 "Mount" 2009-03-25

Like other have said this is the ceiling mount, and works great for a small speaker and has a wide range of motion!

If your speaker weighs more than a few pounds I would not recommend this speaker mount. It claims to be capable of holding a 10 pound speaker from the ceiling. I have an 8 pound speaker and this was the highest rated ceiling mount on Amazon.

Does NOT work as advertised. I contacted Omnimount about the problem and they seemed shocked that it didn't work. They sent replacement parts and it still didn't work. I have since returned it.

This mount is designed to hang your speaker from the ceiling by holding onto the back of the speaker. It definitely held the weight (only after I replaced their garbage anchors with heavy duty toggle bolts), but the speaker drooped over and pointed at the ground instead of straight forward as in the picture. You can tighten it to death (if you can fit your fingers in the 3 inches of room you have to work with) and all it will do is destroy itself as the metal gouges into the plastic.

Overall, this product does not work as advertised or is faulty by design. It does not provide free range of motion as advertised, unless by 360 degrees of motion they meant 'whatever direction gravity takes it.' It does not hold even close to 10 pounds of speaker from the ceiling unless you replace their junky anchors or mount directly into a stud.

Gravity > this product. $7 Wal-Mart mounts worked better than this.

if you have small satellite speakers with the 1/4-20 female threads on the BOTTOM (Infinity TSS-450, 750, 1100) like I do, these are the mounts for you. They are highly adjustable and easy to install. The picture in this ad is wrong tho. It shows the straight shaft for speakers with the 1/4-20 hole on the BACK, however the units come with the "L" shaft meant for either bottom-mounting speakers to the wall or ceiling-mounting speakers with the hole on the BACK. I highly recommened mounting to a wall stud or ceiling joist. If you have no other choice but to mount them in drywall (not recommended), chuck the included plastic anchors and get some heavy duty drywall anchors (ask at your local hardware store for options). Follow the install instruction carefully.

I have not check the fine print. I did not read other reviews from Amazon.com. I have seen the item at local store, however, I decided to buy it from Amazon.com. To my surprise it was a ceiling mount and does't contain the straight shaft for wall mount as described in the pdf file.

To my regret, I ignored what the other reviewer said.

Despite the picture showing them wall-mounted, and the PDF file description, these are CEILING mounted mounts.
